Ayan Mukherjee
was the star at grandfather
Sasadhar Mukerjee’s
felicitation ceremony. The
felicitation came shortly
after the film industry
pioneer’s 100th birth
anniversary. The young
director, Ayan, recently made
his debut in ‘Wake up Sid’
which, contrary to the new
wave of films which are shot
abroad, has been shot entirely
in Mumbai. Speaking about his
grandfather, Ayan said, “I
learn of my grandfather from
the respect that I earn in
this industry simply by being
his grandson.”
Sasadhar Mukherjee’s kin
agreed that while they never
personally experienced it,
industry members saw their
father was a strict
task-master which is probably
what resulted in his excellent
and much acclaimed work.
Veteran Sri Lankan actor,
Ravindra Randeniya, advisor to
the Sri Lankan President on
Films, said on the sidelines,
“Our government assists in
obtaining loans and funds for
films. There is also a
provision for film makers to
obtain loans for print and
publicity to be returned to
the government after the
release of the film. Our
government gives a lot of
freedom to shoot in the city,
the only criteria being that
there should not be
